Audi tire service in Elk Grove
Replacement, rotation, balancing and pressure monitoring, with the quattro rules that come with an Audi.

Do you need one tire, two, or four?
On an Audi with quattro, this is the first question, and the answer is often more than one. quattro drives all four wheels, and it expects all four tires to be the same size and close in tread depth. A brand-new tire next to three worn ones turns at a slightly different speed, and the drivetrain spends every mile reconciling the difference.
So when one tire is damaged, we measure the tread on the other three before recommending anything. If they are nearly new, one tire may be all you need. If they are halfway worn, replacing a pair or the set is what protects the drivetrain. We will show you the measurements and let you decide.
What Audi tire service covers
- Replacement with tires in the size, load and speed rating your Audi calls for. Many Audi tires carry an AO marking on the sidewall, meaning they were developed to Audi's specification for that fitment.
- Mounting and balancing. Large-diameter Audi wheels and low-profile tires are unforgiving of imbalance, which shows up as vibration at highway speed.
- Rotation to even out wear front to rear, where the tire sizes allow it. Some performance models run wider tires in back and cannot be rotated front to rear.
- Pressure check and monitoring reset. On many Audi models, tire pressures have to be stored in the MMI after a tire change or pressure adjustment so the monitoring system knows what normal looks like.
- Puncture assessment. Whether a tire can be repaired depends on where the damage is. Sidewall and shoulder damage means replacement.
Why tires matter more on an Audi
quattro. Covered above: matched tires keep the all-wheel-drive system doing what it was designed to do instead of fighting itself.
Low-profile tires on large wheels. Many Audi models ship on 19-, 20- and 21-inch wheels. Short sidewalls sharpen steering response, and they also mean less cushion between a pothole and the rim. Check pressures monthly; an underinflated low-profile tire is how bent wheels happen.
Performance and all-season fitments are not interchangeable. Summer performance tires on S and RS models are built for grip in warm conditions. All-season tires trade some of that for year-round flexibility. We will tell you what your car came with and what the trade-offs are if you want to change.
e-tron models are heavy and quiet. Battery-electric Audis carry more weight and deliver torque instantly, which wears tires faster than many owners expect. Many e-tron fitments also use tires designed for low rolling resistance and low noise, so matching the original specification preserves range and the quiet cabin.
What Elk Grove roads do to your tires
Heat is the big one. Valley pavement in July and August is hot enough to raise tire pressures noticeably during a drive and accelerate the aging of the rubber. The fix is simple: check pressures cold, in the morning, and use the placard on the driver's door jamb, not the number on the sidewall.
Then there are the expansion joints on Highway 99 and I-5, the rough patches on the county roads out toward Wilton and the Delta, and the curbs in every tight parking lot. Low-profile tires take those hits directly. A bulge on the sidewall is a tire that needs replacing now, not at the next service.
Tires or alignment?
Tires are the rubber. Alignment is the angle the suspension holds that rubber against the road. If your tires are wearing on one edge, or the car pulls, replacing the tires alone will just wear out the new set the same way. That is a job for an Audi wheel alignment, and it is worth doing when new tires go on.

Audi Tire Service: frequently asked questions
Do I have to replace all four tires on an Audi with quattro?
Not always, but often more than one. quattro expects all four tires to be the same size and close in tread depth. We measure the remaining tires before recommending one, two or four.
What does AO mean on an Audi tire?
AO on the sidewall marks a tire developed to Audi's specification for a particular fitment. Choosing an AO tire keeps handling, noise and wear close to how the car was engineered.
How often should Audi tires be rotated?
Follow your Audi maintenance schedule and have the tires checked at every service visit. Models with different front and rear tire sizes cannot be rotated front to rear.
Why is my tire pressure warning on after new tires?
On many Audi models, tire pressures must be stored in the MMI after tires are changed or pressures adjusted. If the warning stays on after that, have the system and the tires checked.
Can a punctured Audi tire be repaired?
A small puncture in the center of the tread can often be repaired. Damage in the shoulder or sidewall, or a tire driven flat, means replacement.
Do e-tron tires wear faster?
Battery-electric Audis are heavy and deliver torque instantly, so tires can wear faster than on a comparable gasoline model. Keeping pressures correct and rotating where possible helps.
Should I get an alignment with new tires?
Yes. If the alignment is off, new tires start wearing unevenly from the first mile. Aligning when new tires go on protects them.
