Audi Q8 vs Audi Q7: Coupe Style or Three-Row Space?
The Audi Q8 and the all-new Audi Q7 share a showroom and a lot of Audi DNA, but they answer different questions. The Q7 is the family hauler; the Q8 is the statement piece.
Seating and space
The Q7 has three rows and seats up to seven, with available second-row captain’s chairs and up to 78.1 cubic feet of cargo space. The Q8 seats five in two rows under a sloping, coupe-like roof, with up to 60.7 cubic feet. If you carry more than four passengers regularly, the Q7 is the practical pick.
Power and performance
The redesigned 2027 Q7 uses a 429-hp twin-turbo V6 (0–60 in 4.8 seconds), while the 2027 Q8 55 TFSI uses a 335-hp turbo V6 with mild-hybrid assist. At the performance end, the SQ7 brings a 591-hp V8 and the SQ8 a 500-hp V8, while the 631-hp RS Q8 performance is the most powerful of the group. Both families are rated to tow up to 7,700 lb when properly equipped, and both come standard with quattro.
Pricing
The 2027 Q7 starts at $70,900 and the 2027 Q8 at $76,900 (MSRP, excluding destination and fees). The Q8’s premium buys its design: the lower, wider stance, the coupe roofline and S line exterior styling that is standard for 2027.
Which should you choose?
Choose the Q7 if you need the third row, the most cargo space or the newest platform. Choose the Q8 if your passengers fit in two rows and you want Audi’s most expressive SUV design — or the path to the RS Q8. The best way to decide is to drive both back to back at Audi Elk Grove.
